Kim Delaney was an American actress. The actress is best known because of her part as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC series NYPD Blue. For this she won the Emmy Award. Delaney was the sole child of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a domestic worker. Her upbringing was within a household with four other brothers. When she was a kid she was aspired to become a court reporter. However, after graduating from high school and relocating in New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. In her teens her first appearance as an actor was on the soap opera All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of films, television movies and dramatics since then. In contrast to her impressive professional career, Delaney's private life isn't as happy and prosperous. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism in the past and had two divorces. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
